Rhona Konnelly is one of Canada’s pioneering women in financial services, beginning her career with Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada in 1977. Over nearly five decades, she has built a distinguished career in insurance, financial planning, and estate planning, holding senior specialist and leadership roles with Sun Life Financial, Investors Group, Nesbitt Burns, MD Management, and Edward Jones.
In 1987, Rhona became one of the first women elected as Chapter President of the Life Underwriters Association of Canada (now Advocis) in Victoria, BC—a significant milestone in her longstanding commitment to professional leadership.
Rhona achieved her Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation in 1998, followed by the Elder Planning Counselor (EPC®) and Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA) designations in 2005. She is a sought-after speaker on elder planning and a member of the Faculty for the national EPC certification program.
In March 2025, Rhona was named one of Insurance Business Canada’s “Elite Women 2025.” In August 2025, she earned the Registered Financial Consultant (RFC®) designation through the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants (IARFC), further strengthening her commitment to global financial planning standards.
Her professional achievements also include seven years of membership in the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) with two Court of the Table qualifications, reflecting her consistent excellence in client service.
Rhona is an active contributor to her community, serving as an estate and elder planning resource for the TB Vets Charitable Foundation, founding the North Shore Chapter of CARP, and authoring The Referability Factor – The Art of Becoming Referable.
A nationally recognized advocate for ethical client service, Rhona is the creator of Canada’s first Policyholder Servicing Charter and a leading voice for elevating standards in in-force policy servicing and the fair treatment of orphaned policyholders. She is dedicated to helping advisors strengthen their practices through stewardship-driven, client-centred service models.
